Rocky Gap Casino & Spa
I heard about this place over the years and decided to visit this summer. My favorite thing about this resort is that it’s on a state park… Rocky Gap State Park. It’s located in Flintstone, MD and looks exactly like the pictures on the website. I can’t say the same for the rooms which were decent, but nothing like the updated, pictures shown on their website. At least not the one we stayed in. If you get a chance to visit make sure you request a mountain view room, on one of the upper levels so you don’t have an obstructed view. The mountain view rooms double as a lake view as well. This is a place the entire family can come to enjoy!
The first pictures you see, are from the rest stop at Sidling Hill. If you ever plan to visit Rocky Gap, this is an absolute must! It’s clean, it has great views, and picnic areas. The inside is filled with information and pamphlets on things to do in the surrounding area. We probably spent about 30-45 minutes taking pictures here.
Once we arrived, we noticed the grounds were very nice and well maintained! The scenery surrounding the resort is beautiful! Though the weather is really unpredictable, it cleared up for us to enjoy what this resort had to offer. There is a lake called “Lake Habeeb where they offer water sports and two small beach areas. They have 5 restaurants on site so you don’t have to go far to eat good food. I believe most if not all the restaurants have lakeside views but we only enjoyed two of them during our stay. There is an indoor pool, golf course, camp grounds, pavilion for cookouts, casino, spa, gym and water sports. You also have the entire state park to hike through and enjoy. I will say there is not tons to do in the nearby surrounding areas so it’s nice the resort has so many activities to offer. We played golf one morning and I surprised myself, I didn’t do half bad. Don’t mind all those golf tee’s you see in the picture. Maybe they explain the reason that not even an hour after playing, why I felt like I had been ran over by a truck and my hand was bruised. Anyways, I did good. The last picture is the view from the room which will be missed. Especially in the morning when the clouds would hover over the mountains. Until next time!
