8 Months Young

Mr. Curiosity

He’s not even walking yet and we can barely keep up with this guy. He is now into any and everything. You can see the curiosity on his little face when he spots the next thing he wants to get into. For Christmas I decided to make him a Christmas box…oh yeah and we bought him a felt Christmas tree that lights up. I must give credit to all the help I had. Brandon made the holes in the top of the box for the lights and Nanny Stephanie drew the fireplace scene for the background. The baby absolutely loved it! He sat in his box for about 15 minutes with no issues. Then he started ripping it apart which I expected and makes for the best shoots…..natural. Most of you who know me know I would have completely decked this box out, but I didn’t have the time. It was enough to see a smile on our little guys face which told me it was perfect. We plan to try to make this tradition every year. Check out the last few pictures where Little B let us know he was finished. Crawled out of his box and pulled his hat off! Check out babies new developments…Enjoy!

  • Wakes up happy and even plays in his crib during the day. If he wakes at night it’s to be put back to sleep
  • Takes 2-3 naps a day. Morning nap is anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half, mid day nap is normally about 30 minutes. Afternoon nap is kind of up in the air….
  • Bedtime has changed. He has his bath at 5, and was in bed between 6:30-7:30. He now has been going down between 8:00-9:00
  • Has two bottom front teeth
  • Puts everything he possibly can in his mouth!
  • Screams and yells and makes all kinds of fun noises to hear his own voice
  • Enjoys looking in the mirror
  • Dances to music…and most of the time he dances on beat!
  • Loves to be given praise….a good hand clap or a yay always puts a big smile on his face.
  • Fascinated with shadows/shadow puppets, rays of light, reflections, etc.
  • Learning to drinks water/diluted apple juice from a sippie cup
  • Drinks three 8 ounce bottles a day
  • Eats some table food along with homemade stage 4 purees and Happy Baby food pouches
  • Practicing feeding himself
  • Loves books, especially the ones that make sounds
  • Crawls really fast
  • Having a good time using his walker to run over mommy, daddy and Nanny Stephanie at times
  • Waves goodbye
  • Likes throwing and dropping things…anything!
  • Recognizes commands
  • Doesn’t like when mommy and daddy leave
  • He now has what I will call temper tantrums. I can only imagine how hard it is when you can’t talk and say what you want and don’t want led alone what you are allowed to have and can’t have. So when we take something from him he really wants, the swinging, kicking and screaming begins. At this point we just respond firmly and seriously to correct this because he is still a baby and can understand from his little point of view how frustrating this time for him is but they must learn unfortunately like we all did.
  • Likes knocking things over…if I stack blocks or his legos, he will literally stop what he is doing to come over and crash my creation then go back to what he was doing.
  • Enjoys baths…bath time routine – He enjoys standing up on the side of the tub to watch us run the water into his tub and is fascinated by the bubbles as they rise. We then put him in along with his toys. We wash him up of course after he has played with his toys, tried to eat the bubbles and our backs are wet as if we bathed with him. He then likes to sit until all the water runs out of his tub. I likes the sound so by the time this happens his entire upper half is dry. I take him out at this point and start our nightly routine!
  • Doesn’t like laying down so diaper changes and putting on clothes can be interesting at times. We generally just give him something to occupy him and all is well.
  • Sleep at night is a little off due to teething. These poor babies go through all this to get teeth and then they fall out. Thank God we don’t remember teething. Thank you Lord!
  • Super wild sleeper! We often look on the monitor to see his feet where his head was…Lol
  • Enjoys playing peak-a-boo
  • Intrigued by figuring out how things work, wheels spin, open shut, grinding gears, etc.
  • Loves sitting in the front of the shopping cart
  • Pretty much can entertain himself
  • Does really well at the doctors with shots, etc. He normally sits on the table and rips up all the paper before they make it to the room. Lol
  • Extremely alert
  • Thinks the phone is for him when it rings….enjoys talking to people on speaker phone.
  • Favorite TV Channels: Baby First Channel, Nick Jr., Disney Jr., PBS Kids, and Netflix He will watch pretty much anything but loves most things animated of course. We try to ensure he watches something educational. Baby First is an educational channel for babies. That’s still his favorite…he knows all his shows by their theme song. It’s hilarious to watch!
